UPSA seeks to encourage research activities and the improvement of curriculums at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, to boost the University-Enterprise relationship in the areas of research, development and innovation; to promote the participation in research projects among the private and governmental sectors, the community and voluntary service; to strengthen intercollegiate relations and cooperation projects at the international level. This lab is based on the following pillars:

  • GLOBALIZATION AND PRODUCTIVITY

UPSA is aware of the urgency of forming citizens with a global vision, professionals who understand the new dilemmas and cultivate an open, collaborative and multicultural attitude. The future of the country depends on the development of skills to innovate and compete.

In this regard, the resources allocated to university research should be focused on socioeconomic conditions where there are competitive advantages, either by the natural resources available in Santa Cruz (mining, livestock, agriculture, forestry, hydrocarbons, tourism, energy and the environment) or by the issues that the government is entrusted to solve (internal transportation, domestic and foreign markets, communication infrastructure both hard-wire and electronic, social inclusion, education, health, housing, water for all, access to energy, among others).

  • INNOVATION

The University considers it essential to encourage all professionals and young people to innovate. It is essential to prepare university students in humanistic disciplines such as philosophy, history, literature and art, regardless of their professional specialty; motivate them to create interaction with other disciplines and improve productivity. To this end, mastering languages is imperative to promote international mobility, have access to information and link internationalization through collaborative networks where renowned international universities take part.

It is essential to create spaces for dialogue, coordination and creation of consortiums among universities, companies and research centers under the State's driving role.

  • DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGIES

Disruptive technologies compete with the dominant technology and seek their progressive consolidation in the market. Collective and interdisciplinary work is required for their integration. Within the realm of education, there is awareness of the need to develop new skills in students to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.

  • GOVERNANCE

It is essential to link young people with new social and political issues, to better prepare them in academic and professional matters and to reinforce ethics, given the growing risks of corruption, drug trafficking, terrorism, insecurity, manipulation of information, among others.
